Smarty Pants Snacking: 3 Wise Choices

It happens, late at night munchies or mid day urges. Snacks are a stable of many diets and can be considered part of a 5 small meal-a-day eating regimes. But what do the "smarty pants" fitness buffs consider intelligent snacking? Here are a few selections by the fitness gods.

1. Vegetable Strips: Cut up some crunchy carrots, chewy celery, and crispy peppers for mid-day snacks. Low in carbs, high in fiber and other nutrients.

2. Popcorn: The unsalted unbuttered version is of course key to making this a smart snack.The natural version is packed with nutrients and has anti-oxides.

3. Cottage Cheese: The lowfat version preferable. A 1/2 a cup has 100 calories, about 13g. of protein, and only 4g.of carbs.
