Small plane crash kills two near Atlanta

Eleven-Alive News reported around 1:22 AM that s small plane crashed in a county southwest of Atlanta, Georgia.

When the family became alarmed that those in the plane had not arrived, they notified the authorities and the plane was found near the intersection of Highway 85 and Highway 74.

Only a short while before the crash, the single-engine Cessna C150 plane had taken off from Falcon Field in Peachtree City, Georgia.
According to authorities, the plane was headed for Shellman Bluff, Georgia. Apparently they failed at an attempt of an emergency landing.

This morning, Sunday, August 10, 2014, the FAA and NTSB will begin an investigation into the crash.

Coweta County is one of Georgia’s largest counties and each of the seven incorporated cities. Newnan is the county seat and the last census showed a population of 127,317.

Another local news channel, WSB-TV, also reported FAA reported that the plane crashed early on Saturday. They were able to locate the wreckage by the pinging the cell phone of one of the victims. They also reported that the crash happened in Fayette County, near the Coweta county line.

The Atlanta Journal also filed a report of the missing plane with similar information, and their video can be seen on their website. There has been no cause of the plane crash as of this last report.
