WWE SmackDown results for February 7, 2014

The Road to WrestleMania 30 has begun. With about two months to go before the big show, the WWE crew is fighting their way through not only this month’s “Elimination Chamber” pay-per-view, but “Monday Night Raw” and “SmackDown” every week until April 6, the day of WrestleMania 30. Tonight’s “SmackDown” was not a cakewalk for anyone. Take a look at the results below to see what I mean.

Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns of The Shield defeated Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler. Seth Rollings, the other member of The Shield, sat ringside for commentary. Reigns, looking like the beast that he’s been recently, won the match for The Shield. Ambrose, however, snuck in to take the pin on Ziggler.

Wyatt Family promo aired gearing them for their fight against The Shield at “Elimination Chamber.”

Sheamus defeated Ryback via the Brogue Kick.

Daniel Bryan defeated Antonio Cesaro (with Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger ringside). After Bryan won with the Yes! Lock, Kane made his way ringside, allowing Cesaro to hits his finisher, the Neutralizer. Kane then took the opportunity to further damage the broken Bryan with a chokeslam.

Divas Champion AJ Lee defeated Nikki Bella. Nikki’s twin sister Brie and Tamina were ringside.

Darren Young beat down Titus O’Neil as O’Neil was giving a promo backstage. The team broke up recently and their hatred for each other grows with every episode.

Bray Wyatt (with the Wyatt Family ringside) defeated Goldust (with Cody Rhodes ringside).

The Shield retorts the Wyatt Family’s earlier promo with one of their own.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton defeated Christian in a non-title match. Orton won with his trademark RKO finisher.

“SmackDown!” served its purpose of pushing the current stories along without doing anything too drastic. The more drastic story developments happen on the pay-per-views and “Monday Night Raw.” While the stories may not be pushed on the WWE’s Friday night show, the wrestling still holds up, so if you want to watch some wrestling action on a Friday night, “SmackDown” will suffice.
