Both St. Louis Park soccer teams turned up the heat index Thursday night as they hosted the Roseville Raiders with the girls winning and the boys playing to a tie.
In the girls game, three different players scored to lead St. Louis Park to a 3-1 win over Roseville.
The Orioles got on the board with the lone first half goal as Lauren McManus head in a corner kick with 13:18 left.
On to the second half and St. Louis Park went up by two when Ellyn Adelmann passed to Emily Hinz on the right side of the net and she scored.
But Roseville would not wilt when Kaitlin Nelson took a corner kick Kaia Porter connected to cut the lead to one. The Orioles would clinch the win on Mariel Klaverkamp's goal from the center slot.
St. Louis Park improved their record to 2-1 and will host the Fridley Tigers in a 5 PM game Tuesday, September 3. Roseville fell to 1-2 at will play at Cretin-Derham Hall Wednesday, September 4 at 7 PM.
There wasn't much scoring in the boys game but there was plenty of solid defense and goalkeeper play as the Roseville Raiders and St. Louis Park Orioles played to a 1-1 tie.
Neither team scored in the first half, though both goalkeepers, the Raiders Ben Westermeyer and the Orioles Eric Hendricks made a number of outstanding saves.
St. Louis Park finally broke the scoreless deadlock 8:34 into the second half on a goal from Nicholas Owens and Roseville evened the score when Daniel Zalk found the net. Both teams went scoreless, even in the two five minute overtime periods.
The Orioles improved their record to 2-0-1 and will host the Fridley Tigers in a 7 PM game Tuesday, September 3. The Raiders record is now 1-1-1 and also return to action Tuesday as the host the Wayzata Trojans at 7 PM.
