Put it in the books! The Terry Keseley Era for the St. Louis Park boys hockey team had a successful home opener Saturday afternoon as Jacob Lukasavage assisted on two goals to lead the Orioles to a 3-1 win over the Henry Sibley Warriors at The Rec Center.
Lukasavage set up St. Louis Park's first goal, going around the left side of the next and passed to Bauer Neudecker in the center slot. Neudecker took a shot and the Orioles took the lead.
It didn't take long for St. Louis Park to tally in the second period. With Miles Mularkey serving a hooking penalty, Nick Hames capitalized on a Henry Sibley turnover and drove down the ice like a car on Highway 100 to score 52 seconds into the period. The Warriors cut the lead to one on Max Rosenfeld's goal from the left side. The Orioles rounded out the scoring when Lukasavage fed Charlie Hills and the fans came alive after the sound of Hills' shot entered the net.
Though both teams didn't score in the third period, Henry Sibley had plenty of chances to comeback as they out shot St. Louis Park 19-3. But several key saves from goalie Conor Klaers and a strong Oriole defense kept the Warriors goal total at one.
St. Louis Park improved their record to 1-2 and returns to action on Tuesday, December 10 against the Delano tigers in a 7 PM game at The Rec Center. Henry Sibley fell to 0-3-1 and will head to the Schwan's Super Rink in Blaine on Thursday, December 12 to face Legacy Christian. Game time is 8 PM.
