Looking for a good event for Dear 'Ol Dad for Father's Day weekend? Then check out Slow Food Atlanta’s Fourth Annual Ice Cream Social happening Saturday, June 19th from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market, taking place in the garden of St. Philip's Cathedral at 2744 Peachtree Road.
For the teensy ticket price of $10 per person and $1 per compostable spoon (children under 5 are free and no spoon purchase required if you bring your own), your family will be able to taste unusual ice cream concoctions from contestants representing some of the best restaurants in town and vote for your favorites. Participating restaurants include Rosebud, Buckhead Bottle Bar, Watershed, Woodfire Grill, Cacao Atlanta, Miller Union, Restaurant Eugene, Brick Store Pub, Lotta Frutta, Murphy's, Shaun's, Pricci, Canoe, Spotted Trotter, Five & Ten, and Fresco Pops (you've gotta have a fave amongst that list).
Best of all, proceeds benefit Slow Food Atlanta, a very worthy cause. Oh, and yours truly will be working the door as the one and only Chica Banana (right hand woman to Chica Lotta Frutta). There will also be music and games for the kidlets.
Tickets are available online at Brown Paper Tickets with a $.99 service charge or swing by the booth this Saturday, June 5th, at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm to buy tickets without the service fee. Tickets are limited so buy soon!
