Slow cold front brings periods of showers by tomorrow

Weather conditions can not be any better this morning as high pressure slowly exits into the Atlantic by this afternoon. Scattered clouds are in place with a weak southerly breeze at around 5 mph. Temperatures are seasonably cool in the lower to mid 70's.

The tranquil weather conditions will not last long though as a cold front over the central Great Lakes approaches New Jersey with the threat for isolated showers this afternoon and evening and more widespread showers tomorrow.

Clouds will increase through today with a threat for an isolated shower or two. Winds will increase from the south at 5 to 15 mph as a stationary front lifts northeast as a warm front through New Jersey by this evening. Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 80's for highs this afternoon.

Scattered to broken clouds can be expected tonight with a threat for isolated to widely scattered showers. A few of the showers will be capable of heavy downpours. Winds will be from the south and southwest at 5 to 15 mph, increasing to 10 to 20 mph by tomorrow morning. Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 60's for lows.

Tomorrow, the cold front will reach New Jersey by the afternoon before stalling out along the New Jersey coast. This cold front will produce periods of showers with some heavy downpours. Winds will back from the south to the southeast at 10 to 20 mph as the cold front stalls out. Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 80's for highs ahead of the cold front.

A wave of low pressure will develop along the stalled cold front leading to widespread showers on tomorrow night on through Thursday. The showers will be capable of heavy downpours. Winds will back from the southeast to west as the low pressure system lifts northeast at 10 to 20 mph. Low temperatures will range from the upper 60's to lower 70's. High temperatures in the lower to mid 80's.

High pressure will briefly take hold on Friday with scattered cloud cover expected. A back door cold front will move through New Jersey on Saturday with a few isolated showers and broken cloud cover. Scattered cloud cover is expected on Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will remain near normal through the period. Low temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's. High temperatures in the lower to mid 80's.
