Slouch hats are in style (Video)

Slouch hats are fashion forward this season. One ball of yarn in poppy red or in lemon zest and you will knit/crochet a stylish hat that will slouch as much or as little as your like.

Most any beanie can become a slouch hat. It is all about the body length. The hat band remains the same in either pattern. By adding more body pattern rows to the beanie, before beginning the crown shaping, you turn it into a slouch.

The slouch hat is a great way to learn about circular knitting and decreases. Jimmy Beans Wool has a pattern using yarnovers. With only 200 yds of yarn in worsted or bulky weight. The pattern covers both yarn weight sizes.

Azure Knits slouch is a popular fashion accessory as well as this season's color choice in emerald green. It is very quick to knit. The pattern requires two different size DPN needles and is worked using Cascade yarn in baby alpaca chunky.

If you would rather crochet your hat, here is the Gumdrop Slouchy Hat pattern by Gleeful Things. In this very easy crochet pattern you are given the option to make it solid or striped. Julie uses pattern testers from time to time. If this is of interest to you, check out this page and possibly test her next pattern.

These patterns are easy and quick to complete. You can make several before the next snow falls. Compliment your hat with a pair of fingerless gloves scarf or cowl. Don't be surprised when someone does a double-take.
