Wednesday, Nathan and Stephanie Sloop appeared in court for the murder charges of 4-year-old Ethan Stacy. Both Nathan and Stephanie Sloop were appointed additional attorneys.
Scott C. Williams and Heather Harris will assist Richard Mauro to defend Nathan Sloop. And Mark Flores will assist Mary Corporon to defend Stephanie Sloop.
Both Stephanie and Nathan face aggravated murder charges for brutal death of Stephanie Sloop’s son, Ethan Stacy. The prosecutors still have time to decide if the death penalty will be added with the murder charges.
Nathan and Stephanie Sloop are scheduled to re-appear in the 2nd District Court in Utah on Sept. 10.
Nathan Sloop yelled “I love you Stephanie” from the holding area right before his court appearance.
Nathan and Stephanie Sloop are being held at the Davis County jail on aggravated murder charges of 4-year-old Ethan Stacy. The couple married on May 6, just a few days after Ethan Stacy arrived to spend the summer with his mother, Stephanie Sloop, 27, and stepfather, Nathan Sloop, 31.
Ethan Stacy’s body was found in May after his mother and stepfather confessed that the body could be found about 40 miles from Salt Lake City, Utah near the Powder Mountain ski resort. Ethan was severely abused for four days before he died.
