Over the weekend, Slipknot unveiled their first official single “The Devil in I” taken off their upcoming album. The song is currently available online for streaming. Previously, the band released “The Negative One” as a taste of what fans can expect from their fifth LP. While the track begins with the band's signature aggressive, brutal sound, things take a mellow turn as frontman Corey Taylor switches between his melodic and screaming vocals making for a thoughtful song. Their as of yet untitled album is due out in October. This will be the follow up to 2008's All Hope is Gone.

This LP marks the band's first without Paul Gray, who died in 2010, and drummer Joey Jordison, who departed the band late last year. While it was originally suggested the percussionist left the group, Jordison himself alluded that he was dismissed. While the band has yet to confirm, reports have suggested that Jay Weinberg has been recruited to play drums on the new album and tour. There are also rumors the band is no longer working with Donnie Steele, their original guitar player who has taken Gray's spot on tour since 2011. Aside from the new song, Slipknot have also announced the second edition of their Knotfest. The event will take place on October 24-26 in San Bernardino, CA. Some of the headliners include In this Moment, Of Mice & Men, Volbeat, and Atreyu among plenty of others.
