The masked men of mayhem, Slipknot, are at it again! This motley crew has just released a new song from their upcoming album which is due out sometime in the fall.. This is the first original music form the band in six years. The song is called "The Negative One," and it is fast and furious and punishing. To hear the new track: When you get to the site, simply click on "Unlock Song" and crank up the volume.

The music video for "The Negative One" is due out on Tuesday, August 5, 2014.

Corey Taylor commented on the status of the new album: "The album is done," he said. "Everything's done. Right now we're just, we're getting the artwork together, we're getting all the other accouterments together, and it's feeling really, really good. We're just stoked, you know. Now it's like, 'Okay, we need to hurry up and get it out,' you know. So yeah, we're really excited."

Taylor also commented on the sound of the new album: "You've got the gorgeous melodies and the artistic direction of Vol. 3, and then you've got the absolute brutality of Iowa. And I think people are gonna lose their minds when they hear it."

The forthcoming album comes with much excitement, but also with pangs of pain and sadness. This is the first album without bassist Paul Gray (#2), who died of a narcotics overdose in 2010. Gray was a founding member of Slipknot and played an integral role in creating their music. This is also the first album without drummer Joey Jordison (#1), who left the band in 2013 under circumstances that are still unclear.

Rumor has it that Slipknot has hired Jay Weinberg to take over the drumming responsibilities on the new album and tour. Weinberg is the son of Max Weinberg of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and Conan O'Brien fame.

Despite the loss of Pig and Scarecrow, us Maggots are ready for the full album, and count the days until the subsequent tour.
