After almost a week of cryptic teasers, Slipknot has released their new song “The Negative One,” which is streaming on their website. Previously, the band posted several graphic and disturbing trailers on their website hinting at some big news from the band. The track will most likely appear on the band's upcoming album, which is expected sometime this fall, via Roadrunner Records. The video for “The Negative One” will premiere on August 5. This will be Slipknot's fifth studio album after 2008's “All Hope is Gone.” It's also their first without bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010, and drummer Joey Jordison, who was dismissed in late 2013. Rumors have been spreading that the band has recruited drummer Jay Weinberg to play on the new album and tour. The band have yet to confirm or deny this.

Describing the new LP's sound, frontman Corey Taylor told Loudwire's Full Metal Jackie as“a great mesh of [2001's] 'Iowa' and [2004's] 'Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)'. You've got the gorgeous melodies and the artistic direction of 'Vol. 3' and then you've got the absolute brutality of 'Iowa'. And I think people are gonna lose their minds when they hear it.”

Recently, the band announced the second edition of Knotfest, which will take place on October 24-26 in San Bernardino, CA. The lineup includes Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat, Atreyu, and In This Moment with many others.
