Taking to Twitter, Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor has stated that the departure of drummer and founder Joey Jordison is not a sign that the band is beginning to fall apart. "For those who think the Knot are falling apart, you are greatly and sadly mistaken. Bring on 2014. Great things are coming. Stay tuned..."
Jordison has always been one of the key writing members of the nine-piece band and it will be interesting to see where the direction of the writing goes on the album they are planning to begin recording this year. Between Jordison leaving for his new band Scar the Martyr and the death of bassist Paul Gray in 2010, the sound for this album could be completely new and different to the other Slipknot albums. Jordison's new album release their first album on October 1st and it reached position 129 on the Billboard charts. This is a far cry from the massive album sales Slipknot generates with each of their releases. The wonder of whether "personal reasons" or differences within the band were the cause for his leaving may always be questioned until one of the parties sheds more light into the decision. Only time will tell where the direction of Slipknot will go, but with the many side projects its many members have, the time for fracturing could be current and however many more albums are released remains to be seen.
