The announcement came yesterday via the band's social media accounts, and this year is shaping up to be bigger than ever. The masked marvels of metal have pulled out all the stops for the 2014 festival, being held October 24-26th at the San Manuel Amphitheater and Campgrounds in San Bernadino, CA. They are bringing some of the biggest names in rock and metal together for an unforgettable show. Among those on the bill (besides Slipknot) are Danzig, Anthrax, Killswitch Engage, In This Moment, Hatebreed, Hellyeah, Testament, Volbeat and many more, plus a very special reunion set from Atreyu. Sound anything like a dream concert yet? Well then don’t bother pinching yourself because the excitement doesn’t stop there.
Slipknot has also planned a massive promenade full of carnival-style chaos that will send shivers up your spine and scare the smile right onto your face. There will be a pyro and fire show, a ring of fire thrill ride, a flame throwing cannon and a fire spewing fortune teller, as well as a thunder dome, a junk car drum circle (just what it sounds like) and a goat petting exhibit. Crowning it all is a Slipknot museum chock full of band paraphernalia, from masks to jumpsuits, art and even personal items from the band members’ private collections. For an extra jolt of adrenaline, there will also be 30 plus costumed performers on hand in the crowds to terrify and delight those who happen into their path.
Sounds like the metal party of the year! This of course comes on the heels of the news about Slipknot’s forthcoming album which, by the way, comes as a free download when you order your tickets through Slipknot’s website. That’s right; the new album comes with each festival ticket you buy.
Tickets are available in two day passes or single day passes, with lawn, seated or pit available for selections. If you want to splurge and go all the way, there are also a number of VIP packages you can get. All include one pit ticket or seat up close, access to the Friday night kick-off party featuring performances from Suicide Silence, Black Dahlia Murder, Butcher Babies and More, fast lane entrance to the festival grounds and access to the VIP lounge party with DJ Sid Wilson. From there the perks build as you go up VIP levels, which include meet and greets with members of Slipknot, access to the VIP lounge during the festival, a museum tour with Clown and much more. Ticket info can be found at http://www.knotfest.com/ or www.ticketmaster.com. Travel Package info will also be up soon.
If you can’t make it to California for the show, don’t worry. There will be plenty photos and videos posted daily from the bands.
In November, Knotfest will head to Japan for the first time.
There is no official release date for the new record, but keep your eyes opened, it’s just a matter of time.
