In a bit of interesting news announced earlier today, video game developer, Slightly Mad Studios, unveiled “World of Speed”, a free-to-play, massively multiplayer online arcade racing game for PC.
You may remember Slightly Mad Studios as the developer for Electronic Arts’ “Need for Speed: Shift” series. In “World of Speed”, PC gamers will be able to take the wheel of some the world’s fastest cars, as well as everyday runners, and race on true-to-life tracks from all over the worlds, as well as some that only a race fan could dream up.
“World of Speed” will also introduce a new level of connected competition, allowing players real-time interactive social gameplay, through Club and team gameplay, the Airfield social hub and unique missions and objectives in every race, making player’s actions matter. Gamers can also look forward to “World of Speed” being supported with live events and player challenges, along with new gameplay modes, tracks and cars.
You can find screenshots as well as a trailer for “World of Speed” on the left. To learn more about the game, which will be published worldwide by My.com, or to sign up for the closed beta you can visit the official site. “World of Speed” is expected to enter closed beta in the spring of 2014.
