Cabana Bay at Universal Orlando Resort is now completely open, just in time for the onslaught of the summer crowds and the soon-to-be-open Diagon Alley. I reported on the grand opening of the initial phase, which you can read about here, and which is very lovely. However, the new side has two big advantages that will no doubt attraction many tourists.
First, the new area has interior hallways vs. outside walkways to the rooms. But second, and perhaps most exciting, it also has a lazy river where you can float or rent an inner tube for cool, splashy fun on the brutally hot Florida summer days. Click the slideshow accompanying this article for scenes from the new part of Cabana Bay Resort.
There's a pool with a slide on the original side, too, and both sides feature suites with nice amenities like microwaves, mini fridges, and separate bathtub and toilet areas. They're geared nicely for larger families who want enough space without having to rent two rooms.
I'm staying at Cabana Bay Resort this week while I cover the Diagon Alley media preview. Jump to this article to learn more about the special wands that will allow you to do your own magic when you visit, and follow me on Twitter via @themeparkwriter for live updates. I'll also be posting right here all week with updates on Diagon Alley and all the other fun at Universal Orlando Resort.
My first official update from the event can be found here.
