Though not as daring as navigating a scooter in Kuta traffic, interacting with Balinese long-tailed macaques is a courageous effort that's uniquely Bali. When dreams of a trip to Indonesia's beautiful little island feature waves (if you're a surfer) or bicycles (if you're a Liz Gilbert fan), there's something about giggling as bathing monkeys splash each other and gasping when they grab human posessions that brings all the tourists together for one happy Bali adventure. View 5 pics in the slideshow below.

If you go:

Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
Ubud, Bali
8am to 6pm daily

While you're in the neighborhood - Ibu Rai Bar & Restaurant

Getting there - China Air, American and several other airlines connect LAX to DPS (Denpasar, Bali).
