Tuesday is Fat Tuesday in New Orleans and Mardi Gras stared early this morning and will continue throughout the day. Many people in New Orleans started their celebrations over the weekend, as the slideshow below shows.
Mardi Gras is the celebration before the fasting of Lent that begins tomorrow on Ash Wednesday.
This year, New Orleans has even more to celebrate. A little over a week ago, the 2010 Super Bowl was won by the New Orleans Saints and it seems that the party in New Orleans hasn’t stopped. This was the first time the Saints made it to the Super Bowl. Fat Tuesday usually is the biggest party of the year for many people in New Orleans, but this year’s Super Bowl party may just outshine the Mardi Gras celebrations.
See the slideshow of Mardi Gras celebration photos below.
Utah’s largest annual celebration is Pioneer Day which is celebrated on July 24 every year. The day is typically celebrated with fireworks, rodeo’s, and parades around Salt Lake City, Ogden and Saint George.
