On Sept. 10, 2013, Apple revealed the new iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iOS 7 during a live event that took place at 1 p.m. ET. Apple CEO Tim Cooke announced that Justin Timberlake and Katy Perry would perform live at the Apple’s iTune festival in London, then delved into the new gadgets. In summary, the two new phones are the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, both which will go on sale Sept. 20, 2013; however, pre orders begin on Sept. 13, 2013.
Beginning with the new operating system iOS 7, it was announced that the new system would bring changes to Siri. For instance users will find Siri can search Wikipedia and Twitter. There will be changes to ringtones as well. The iOS 7 will be released on September 18, 2013 for the iPhone 4 with later releases for other products. Users of the iPhone, iPad and Touch will find that later today, they can access Apple’s iOS apps free.
After the news on the iOS 7, it was time to delve into the iPhone 5C. Available in white, melon, yellow, blue and green, the phone has a hip and trendy look to it that is sure to be a pleaser for younger consumers. Cases are available in white, melon, yellow, blue, green, and black. The combination of color case and phone ensure a unique, contemporary look at an affordable price.
While the iPhone 5C looks great, its undoubtedly the price that will make this phone a success. The iPhone 5C 16GB costs $99 w/contract, the 32GB is $199 w/contract and the cases are $29 each. Carriers include AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. Those interested in an unlocked and contract-free deal can go with T-Mobile or SIM-Free phones.
While the phones look great, their low cost is due to their being what was described as “unapologetically plastic.” Plastic or not, the phones contemporary features are sure to be a big seller come Black Friday and Cyber Monday. As this is a fashionable, low-cost phone, it just might cause those who haven’t used an iPhone previously to give it a try.
Next was the introduction of the new iPhone 5S. The iPhone 5S differs from the 5C in appearance as well as design. Available in sleek silver, polished gray and glimmering gold, the phone itself has a “space-age, modern look” to its design. These phones look as revolutionary as the technology they feature.
