Slideshow: Frank Reade's super "Air" finale at TFAW

One book, three weeks, three venues: the release party for Frank Reade: Adventures in the Age of Invention held its final celebration at the Hollywood Things From Another World. The "Air"-themed event capped off a memorable tour for authors Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett.

"I'm proud to have done a unique book release event for a unique book," said Guinan, "and proud of Anina for pulling it all together."

Before the official start time of 7pm, TFAW was well-populated with eager readers and friends. The first ten fans who attended all three events were presented with prints and custom chocolate coins, and a raffle was held for a prize package that included a copy of Frank Reade, coins, and more. The raffle winner was Rich Ellis, artist of the Chris Roberson-penned Memorial. Grace Allison, Memorial colorist, was also in attendance.

Guests enjoyed food and drink and lined up to have their books and posters signed by the authors. Guinan reported that Things From Another World sold out of all the copies of Frank Reade they had on hand for the signing, indicating that three release parties had not saturated the market by any means.

Festivities were interrupted, however, when Alter Egos Society supervillain Dr. Megahertz was confronted by Silver Starling over rights to the mysterious Prometheus Inductor.

The dispute quickly became a musical number as Brain Teaser arrived and used his mental powers to make the two sing show tunes, to the delight of all in attendance.

All except for Kate Reade, that is. The famed inventor appeared via time travel to prevent the Prometheus Inductor from destroying the universe, which fact came as a surprise to Megahertz and Starling.

The universe thus saved, partying continued into the evening.

Guinan admitted that the three-location tour was fun, but wasn't sure if the next book's release would repeat the spectacle.

"We may have set a bar that we won't be able to top!" he said.
