Sleigh Bells and CSS at State Theatre; St. Pete, prepare to sweat!

Raunchy, distorted, ruckus, heavy, spacey. All these are words to describe the sound of Sleigh Bells. The Brooklyn-based dance punk duo are bringing their high energry live show to St. Pete's State Theatre with support from CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy) and Bosco Delrey this Friday, April 28th.

I was lucky enough to see Sleigh Bells in October (yes, during "HIPtober"!) with LCD Soundsystem and was blown away and simultaneously exhausted by their all out, balls-to-the-walls live performance. For only having two people, a laptop, and a guitar on stage, Miller and Krauss pack a powerful punch. Miller's stripped down guitar sound with its obvious hardcore roots is the perfect accompaniment to Krauss' screeching yet dreamy vocals and whirlwind of movement and flying hair.

All the way from Brazil, Co-headliners Cansei de Ser Sexy will be lending their electro clash blended indie rock style to the bill. Their name translates to "got tired of being sexy" which they state is a quote from a past Beyonce interview. Better known as CSS, this band garnered fame through the Internet, with various members having popular blogs and photo sharing sites. After uploading songs to a site called Trauma Virtual, the groups music took off; begin featured on the Brazilian version of many popular American shows and then in campaigns for everything from the Zune to Chloe perfume.

Starting the show off with a bang will be Bosco Delrey. A Memphis transplant to New Jersey, Delrey creates a grungy dancehall sound that seems the unlikely product of lo-fi guitar work mixed with drum machines and vintage synth.

This promises to be the kind of show that has you sweating all night; due to the fact that you won't stop moving! Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 day of show, but I  wouldn't count of there being too many more tickets left, so get yours now if you don't already have 'em! This is going to be another "essential show" brought to you by Aestheticized Presents and a killer one at that!
