Midwestern equestrian driving enthusiasts will hitch their horses for the 27th Annual Sleigh and Cutter Rally on Saturday, January 12, in Ashland, Wisconsin. This picturesque outdoor event is open to the public with no admission charges.
Hosted by the Northwoods Harness Club, the Sleight and Cutter Rally will begin with hookups at 11 a.m. at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center. The performance and equestrian driving competition will feature several divisions for youth and adult participants. Rigs include bobsleds, cutters, and sleighs.
A narrated exhibition is set to begin at 1 p.m. Free sleigh rides for attendees will follow the presentation.
Sponsors of the 2013 Sleigh & Cutter Rally include the Ashland Chamber of Commerce, Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center, Northern State Bank and several area businesses.
The Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center is located at 29270 County Highway G, in Ashland, Wisconsin, about 300 miles north of Madison. The facility will be open during the Sleigh & Cutter Rally to offer educational exhibits and a food booth.
A shuttle service will transport attendees between the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center and Monk’s Bowling Lanes (located at 282 Sanborn Avenue) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Shuttle riders may contribute voluntary donations to help defray costs of the service, provided by Bay Area Regional Transit (BART).
