‘Sleepy Hollow’ finale preview: Will Moloch unleash Hell?

Ichabod and Abbie find a map to Purgatory.

It is the moment we’ve all been waiting for and dreading. ‘Sleepy Hollow’s’ intense, fantastical, jaw-dropping, gasp-inducing and mind-blowing Season One finale is upon us. The cast and creators have remained very hush-hush when it comes to revealing any details about the last two episodes.

Before “The Vessel” even aired, we came across pretty explicit descriptions for “The Indispensable Man” and “Bad Blood.” However, after watching the embedded theatrical trailer, we realize that last week’s preview simply scratched the surface of what will come to pass on Monday night.

This kick-ass movie-style promo recaps season one and teases some shocking moments from the two-hour finale. Ichabod and Abbie find a map that will lead them to Purgatory. As we’ve learned from the past, entering Purgatory is extremely risky. Ichabod does not flinch in the face of danger. He is prepared to confront Moloch and whomever stands in his way in order to free his beloved Katrina. Once again, Abbie has Ichabod’s back. She stands by his side as they face booby traps, zombie George Washington (?!), and much more.

We might even see Ichabod’s father in Purgatory! In this teaser from TVGuide Magazine (courtesy of Tom Mison Fans and Sue), it sounds like “Ichadaddy” also ended up in Purgatory. Matt Roush writes:

“The Crane family reunites when Ichabod unexpectedly runs into his Oxford professor father (Victor Garber) while attempting to rescue wife Katrina from Moloch’s talons.”

I assumed we would see Ichabod’s father in flashbacks, but this is far more interesting. Is Moloch messing with Ichabod’s head? Did Papa Crane wind up in Purgatory like Katrina? Or will there be a completely different twist to his appearance? What do you think, Sleepy Heads?

The trailer also gives us a glimpse of a moment in which Jenny questions whether or not Abbie is doing the right thing by following Ichabod into Purgatory. Is Abbie willing to die to rescue Ichabod’s wife? As our heroine sees it, death is comes with the role of being a Witness. The priest told Irving that disciples most often end up being martyrs and die in their fight against Evil. Witnesses must be prepared to face the same fate. No matter what happens, Abbie is willing to sacrifice her life if it means she can save the world from eternal damnation.

But wait, there’s more!

FOX has released three sneak peeks from “The Indispensable Man” (part one of the finale). The first two scenes offer a couple of fun Ichabbie moments, while the last clip brings on the drama. Click on the links below to watch the video:

Surprise kitchen appearance: Ichabod texts and Officer Andy Brooks startles Abbie.

Ichabod rails against cell phone companies: Ichabod complains about his cell phone, calling it an “antiquated piece of rubbish” and then admits he wants a new one. He’s adapting to the 21st century much better than he may think. As we all know, when it comes to technology, you always want the latest gadget.

Adventures in grave robbing: Ichabod, Abbie and Henry Parrish need to break open a warlock’s grave in order to retrieve a valuable item that will help them in the apocalyptic war. Unfortunately, the grave has been booby trapped. Nonetheless, Henry seems willing to face fatal consequences if it means he can help Ichabod and Abbie defeat Evil.

Opening the portal to Purgatory gives a lot of nasty evil creatures a way out. If Ichabod and Abbie successfully accomplish their mission and free Katrina, will they be followed by something sinister? Moloch and his minions have been working overtime to undermine Ichabod and Abbie’s efforts. Will Moloch achieve his goal of bringing War to Sleepy Hollow? How can this new horseman be defeated? Will Moloch’s prophecy come true? Will Ichabod be the cause of Abbie’s demise? Will her soul be delivered to Moloch?

I think this season finale will live up to the hype. Get ready for an epic, cinematic scale send-off to a remarkable first season. Watching this will be bittersweet. I’m already having anxiety over what will happen and how long we’ll have to wait to see this awesome story continue.

What are you most excited see? Do you have any early predictions? Are you expecting a killer cliffhanger?

Brace yourselves Sleepy Heads. I watched the finale last night and it does live up to the hype. I’m not going to spoil anything for you, but I do want to share a few things you have to look forward to.

Get ready for goosebumps. There are some really moving and sweet scenes in the midst of action-packed drama. Ichabod and Abbie share a few fun and tender moments. Jenny and Abbie show some sisterly love. Henry, Ichabod and Abbie also acknowledge the powerful bond they’ve developed over the course of their adventures this season.

We get some really cool historical backstory on George Washington.

Expect another awesome moment regarding Ichabod’s wardrobe.

Victor Garber leaves quite an impression when he debuts as Ichabod’s father.

The special effects and set designs are stunning.

The Irving family will have to deal with the consequences in the aftermath of Macey’s creepy possession.

You’ll be in for a fun and fascinating ride throughout most of the episode. There are some twists and turns, but the ending is what will leave you reeling. The final moments are literally jaw-dropping. Seriously, my mouth was gaping in shock throughout the last five minutes. It haunts me still. So may I suggest imbibing yourselves with some rum (as Ichabod would do) to settle your nerves and ease the headache you will have after this phenomenal episode is over.
