Everyone contributes Yuletide cheer in different ways. The residents of Robert Road in Torrance are proud to offer their annual Sleepy Hollow Christmas Lights Extravaganza every night from the first weekend in December through the first week of January 2014 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Check out the six blocks of sparkling lights with family and friends. It's free!
This stellar light show was named by Redfin as the second best place to see holiday lights in the Los Angeles area! (Candy Cane Lane was number one. Christmas Tree Lane was number four.) Yes, there will probably be traffic -- lots of it. Instead of inching into a long line of slow moving cars, park on Pacific Coast Highway, Calle Mayor or Prospect, and walk to Robert Road, just west of Calle Mayor. Navigating systems tend to lead you into the most heavily congested routes, so study an old-school map to figure out the easiest path for you. Consider bringing some cash if you want to purchase coffee, cocoa, cider, cookies or popcorn, which some houses are providing. Be aware: there are no public bathrooms. Remember to dress warmly, and wear comfortable shoes, if you intend to walk. Granted, there's no chance of rain right now, but the lights will still blaze, even if it's wet. The whole spectacle shuts down promptly at 10 p.m., so arrive early if you don't want to be left in the dark.

Ignite the night!
