Throughout Darrell Lance Abbott, AKA 'Dimebag Darrells' career he inspired countless musicians to take the first step on their own musical pathways. Unfortunately his life was cut short during a live show with Damageplan on December 8th, 2004. Known for his part in Pantera, Damageplan, and various other projects, Dimebag Darrell lives on in the hearts and souls of fans around the world.
After 7 years the world has still not forgotten this iconic metal god, and continues to pay tribute to him year after year and Salt Lake City, UT. is no exception. On December 9th, 7 local SLC bands will unite to ‘play tribute’ to Dimebag Darrell, each band covering a song in memory of this extremely talented musician, idol and mentor. Come out and join them (8pm, 21+) A Balance Of Power, Unthinkable Thoughts, Orion’s Wrath, Incidious, Eye’s Of Damnation, Hurricane Carter and The Dark Past in a hellacious and vulgar display of power and commemoration for one of the worlds beloved guitar legends…
Through the efforts of South Shore, Underground Herbal Spirit, Rocky Mountain HardCore, Skin Deep Tattoos, Closet Mafia and of course the bands and so many others, ‘The Dimbag Memorial Show’ will be not only a chance to pay tribute to Dimebag, but a chance to honor one of their own.

(Writers note: I do not usually include comments of this type in my articles but I felt the desire to say a few things. Although I am not a musician, I have devoted much of my life to music, on one level or another for years. Every year, days like today, that commemortate such tragic moments in music history hit hard. For me they are emotional because music has had such a profound effect on my life and soul. I can honestly say without music to get me through the hard times I'm not sure I would have made it. Pantera and Dimebag Darrell had a huge part in bringing me to the metal side of life and for that I am forever in Dimebag Darrell and Pantera's debt.
