Making a surprise appearance at the annual Golden Gods Awards presented by Revolver magazine, Slayer performed a new track “Implode,” their first new song since 2009. After the show, the studio version was made available on their website to download at no cost.
The band are slated to head back into the studio soon and hope to release a new album in 2015. This will mark a significant change for the band as they have ended their three decade relationship with Rick Rubin and his label American Recordings.
Almost a year ago, Slayer lost long time guitarist Jeff Hanneman to liver failure caused by alcohol-related cirrhosis. They have since hired Exodus guitarist Gary Holt to play his parts. The band will be touring North America and Europe this summer with only a few dates scheduled. You can find the dates below. To hear the new track “Implode,” visit their website.
