Slayer cancels tour dates

According to their official site, Slayer has cancelled/postponed some of their American Carnage Tour with Megadeth and Testament, set to kick off January 17th, so that Tom Araya (vocalist, bassist) can undergo back surgery. The bands staff is hard at work rescheduling all the dates that have been cancelled for later in the year and promises that already purchased tickets will be honored at the later dates.

Tom began suffering severe pain on the bands Australian/New Zealand/Japanese tour last October (believed to be caused by nearly three decades of extreme head banging), but worked through the discomfort to finish the dates. After he returned home he met with a orthopedic specialist and underwent non-surgical remedies to no avail, at which time he decided to undergo the Anterior Cervical Discectomy with Fusion, considered a relatively routine procedure, to fix the troubled area.

Having never really slowed down in their three decade career, Slayer released their 11th studio album, World Painted Blood last November. Featuring tracks like the heavy but melodic “Beauty Through Order” and the shredding “Psychopathy Red”, the latest endeavor fits perfectly into the bands extensive catalog.

As of now, there are no dates scheduled in Ohio (Detroit being the closest), Slayer has a pretty good record of hitting the Buckeye State.
