The revamped lineup of Slayer has announced upcoming US tour dates, including a headlining appearance at Austin's Fun Fun Fun Fest on November 10th. The thrash quartet played FFF in 2011 to much fanfare, so this will likely be another well-received appearance.
Slayer took two massive hits this year, starting with another, and likely final, departure of founding drummer Dave Lombardo, along with the untimely death of guitarist Jeff Hanneman last May. Many in the metal community speculate about the legitimacy of the new edition, which features replacements Gary Holt on guitar and Paul Bostaph on drums, but of course there's only one way to find out.
The notable drawback to the Austin date is that you'll have to pay for at least one day's worth of Fun Fun Fun, which is invariably packed with decidedly un-metal bands and people. But hey, the Cro-Mags are playing too, so maybe they'll be on the same day!
