If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive, intimate place to grab a bite to eat, look no farther than Slate Bistro and Bar at Trilogy Golf Club at Power Ranch. I went there for the first time this past Sunday for breakfast and was treated to a delightful spread, friendly service, and a great view.

The restaurant is located on the Trilogy Golf Club and seating is available inside and on the patio. No seat is a bad one, as the large windows offer every patron a picturesque view of the golf course. The breakfast menu isn't huge, but has enough of the staples to please every palate. I chose the 'build-your-own-breakfast' option and had fresh fruit, two strips of bacon and multigrain toast.

The wait for our food was short and even though it was a Sunday morning, we were seated immediately. If you're a coffee lover, Slate will quickly become a favorite spot to satisfy your java craving because their coffee is phenomenal; I had at least three cups and I'm not even much of a coffee drinker.

The restaurant has a cozy, friend-next-door feel and the waiters and waitresses are pleasant and helpful. The lunch/dinner menu is extensive and features wings, prime rib sliders, the Trilogy Two Putt sandwich and much more. Happy hour is all day, every day for drinks and happy hour food specials run from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Treat yourself to a night out on Thursdays at Slate and enjoy live music or come in on Fridays for a prime rib dinner. Slate also has a kids menu so make sure to take the little ones along!

Slate is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with breakfast served from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. You can also check out their calendar for special upcoming events.
