In April of this year, Slash, the legendary guitarist of Guns N' Roses brought great news when he shot us a message stating that he would have two songs off his solo album in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. When Slash messaged us this time, however, it wasn't to deliver more good news.
In the most recent message, which was in response to a question we asked about getting Guns N' Roses' classic debut album, Appetite for Destruction, in Rock Band and Guitar Hero, Slash claims that it's less than likely since Axl Rose holds all rights to Guns N' Roses licenses.
According to the message Slash sent us, "unfortunately, it'll never happen."
Appetite for Destruction is one of the top selling albums of all-time and remains the best selling debut album ever released. It contains most of Guns N' Roses' hits including "Welcome to the Jungle" (which was featured in Guitar Hero III, which angered Axl Rose), "Sweet Child O'Mine" (which had a cover in Guitar Hero II), and "Paradise City" (which is consistently the top-requested song in both series).

But is it really unlikely considering that Axl allowed the entirety of "Chinese Democracy" to appear in Rock Band?
can Axl die ? seriously, he's the biggest douche bag in music history. FANS want your music through both GH & RB.
@Rashard it's quite unlikely seeing as he tried to sue Rock Band over it. Not quite sure what his argument but he apparently tried to sue them over some use of it
I'm happy about this, now these games can release good music.
the only reason it seems he let Chinese democracy into rock band is because it has none of the old members its just axl
Axl attempted to sue Activision/Guitar Hero, not Harmonix/Rock Band.
This is just Slash crying. Guys if you want the real story - Slash and co licensed Jungle to Guitar Hero without Axl's consent, which is why he sued them. Slash has continually sued Axl for not licensing songs to a number of really crappy movies, because Axl has no desire, or financial need, to sell out. Sorry but Slash is the biggest media whore out there. Great player, horrible business sense. He's the new Gene Simmons. I have no doubt Appetite will come out - likely for Rock Band - at some point, since all of Chinese Democracy was released there, and there was rumors that November Rain will be on the new Rock Band as it includes keyboards now. Wait and see, and don't trust Slash... he just likes media attention (see: Name dropping Justin Bieber, of all people).
You dont know much about Axl do you? Hes the biggest whiny crying baby ever. He went through some really hairy stuff in his childhood. Traumatic stuff or so Ive heard. The band broke up because Axl wont let ANYONE forget this fact. It got to the point that he DROVE OFF EVERY OTHER MEMBER of the band. You know, the guys who actually WROTE all the music for ALL of GNR's hit songs. The ones that made Axl the money he has. Amazing singer, absolutely. Amazing lyricist, one of my favorites. But he is still a complete and utterly self serving, self centered douche bag, who harbors delusional notions of grandeur, making him so much of a perfectionist that it took him over 10 years to release ONE album on his own. Its also the reason he STILL cant keep a band together and has replaced every single member numerous times in said ten years. Get your head out of the sand and stop talking about him like your one of his PR guys :P
If anything, Axl wouldn't release the rights for Appetite to RB/GH because the masters have Slash in them; or he would get all guitar tracks re-recorded; and then "fans" would cry a river because it wouldn't have Slash and the others.
that, and even tough Axl has the rights, he'd still have to pay royalties to Slash if he used the original tracks; wich I guess is the whole debate those two have over those songs; GNR can perform them live just like Slash does on his own but if they earn anything by licensing, they have to cut a piece to each other.
Slash really kind of contradicted himself. The album will never be in Rock Band or Guitar Hero.....but Axl is the one with the rights not him.....yeaaaah this is a pointless article. SOMETHING from the album will make it into the game at some point and I can guarantee it will be in Rock Band thanks to Axl Rose since Activison betrayed Axl and used a song without the proper rights. Especially since Harmonix has been really cool to Axl Rose by putting the album he wanted in the game. Axl will repay the favor eventually.
LMAO. Ill say the same to you I said to another commenter here. You dont know much about Axl do you?
Also I want to add that Axl Rose has rerecorded Appetite for Destruction over the years but never released the rerecords since he didn't think it had as much life as the originals. Axl Rose is a huge douche and I hate his personality but he knows what he is doing and he will deliver Appetite and Hopefully Use Your Illusions(the better set of albums anyways imo) to the music game fans eventually.
If any old guns stuff is released on either format, I'll probably buy it - whether it be RB3 or GHWOR. I bought the Chinese Democracy DLC on RB. It's better than no Guns, but it's not as good as AFD or the Illusions. I don't expect any old guns to see the light of day in either game though due to license issues between the two parties. It's too bad though, because they have so much killer material that would be a blast to play.
Got something to say?
