Slamdance 2013 films set to come to SF theaters

Good news for indie movie lovers, Gravitas Ventures has picked up a couple films from Slamdance 2013. Two documentaries, 'The Bitter Buddha,' and 'Wild in the Streets,' were picked up along with the comedy 'He's Way More Famous Than You.'

This deals means the films will be released in select theaters and VOD over the next few months.

'The Bitter Buddha' will be the first to hit select theaters on Valentine's Day, VOD February 19. Steven Feinartz's film pulls the curtain back to show the inner struggle of the 'comic's comic' Eddie Pepitone. Patton Oswalt, Sarah Silverman and Zach Galifianakis help tell the story of this funny guy with unexpected inner demons.

Shrovetide Football is a brutal game with only one rule; manslaughter will not be tolerated. Peter Baxter shines a light on the Up'ards and Down'ards in his documentary 'Wild in the Streets.' The film is expected to be available on VOD April 23.

Michael Urie's comedy, 'He's Way More Famous Than You,' is a hilarious look at a Z-list celeb reaching for the A-list. On a particularly rough day, working actress Halley Feiffer is dumped by her boyfriend and manger. With a couple of stolen scripts and an endless bottle of sangria Halley sets out to make herself a star. This film will hit VOD on April 8, with a theatrical release in May.

In case you are not familiar with the festival, Slamdance is the other filmfest that happens every year in Park City, Utah. The motto of Slamdance is, 'for filmmakers, by filmmakers,' and they do their best to live up to those words. Only low-budget films without a distribution deal are allowed to enter into competition.
