Slain Cobb County mother remembered as a great mom at funeral service

Funeral services were held this week for a Cobb County mother who was viciously murdered just a few days before Christmas; allegedly by her own ex-husband.

According to Cobb County Sheriff's investigators, 49-year-old Donna Nations Kristofak was murdered in her Marietta home off of Tall Pine Drive on Dec.23. Her former husband, 58-year-old Stephen Kristofak, was arrested on Dec. 27 and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault.

On Monday, family members and friends gathered at the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church to pay respects to Donna, who was remembered fondly as a "super mom" who did everything for her two teenage sons, Harrison and Zak.

According to Fox 5 News, as photos of the slain mother lined the tables in the fellowship hall of the church, family friend Alswinn Kieboom stepped outside to speak about the kind of person Donna was and how she positively affected the community:

"She is, as I said in there, she represents all that's good about people and all that's great about this community."

Originally from St. Louis, Donna graduated from West Cobb's McEachern High School, followed by Georgia State University, in Atlanta. A scholarship fund has been set up to help her two sons, Zak, 15, and Harrison, 18, with college expenses. Contributions to the Harrison and Zak Kristofak Scholarship can made at any Regions Bank.
