Two time TONY Award nominee for Best Actor in a Musical and star of NBC’s hit series SMASH Brian d’Arcy James will host the Concert of Stars gala fundraiser for Skyline Theatre Company at the George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation on Sunday, April 7th at 7:00pm in Fair Lawn.
Mr. James' Broadway credits include starring roles in Next to Normal, Time Stands Still opposite Laura Linney, the original Shrek in Shrek (Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical), The Apple Tree, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Lieutenant of Inishmore, Sweet Smell of Success opposite John Lithgow (Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical), Titanic, Carousel, and Blood Brothers. Most recently Brian starred in the Public Theater’s production of Giant. Off Broadway, Mr. James has starred in Port Authority, Wild Party, and The Good Thief for which he won an OBIE Award. Brian will premiere his new solo concert “Going to Town” at Town Hall this May.
The concert, a tribute to the great musical theatre composing team of Rodgers and Hammerstein, will be preceded by a delectable tasting in the Atrium Lobby and followed by delicious desserts and a chance to mingle with the Broadway performers. The current list of performers includes Michele McConnell (Carlotta in Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera), Brigid Harrington (from Disney’s Mary Poppins), Jessica Grove’ (from the recent Broadway revival of A Little Night Music), Tim Shew (from the current Broadway revival of Evita), and Jennifer Hope Wills (star of Broadway’s Phantom, Wonderful Town, Woman in White and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast). A silent auction with exciting and unique items rounds out this special event. Tickets are just $75 and are completely tax deductible.
