Skyline Road prevailed over a sloppy Maywood Park racetrack on Halloween evening (Oct. 31), winning the $12,000 Life’s A Holiday Stake for driver Casey Leonard.
Despite making an early break, the Mike Brink trainee overcame sitting last at the first quarter clocking to prevail by 3¼ lengths in 2:00.4.
Stablemate King Mufasa made a nasty break just past the first turn, but did return to finish second for driver Mike Oosting, while Mack’s Gold Band and driver John DeLong trudged through the slop to finish third.
Skyline Road now has seasonal earnings of $54,775 for Bill Wright, Geis Enterprises and the Erv Miller Stable from 4 wins, 3 seconds and 2 thirds in 17 trips postward this year.
The son of Photo Color now has $81,995 in career earnings. He was bred by Skyline Standardbreds, Inc., of Chicago and is the ninth foal out of the Pine Chip mare Pining For You.
Skyline Road was a $7,500 yearling purchase at the 2011 Walker Standardbred Sale, and is a full brother to Skyline Pete 2, 2:03.3 ($11,895), and is a half-brother to Glide Chip (by Yankee Glide) 3, 1:57.3 ($18,063) and to My Vicky (by Mr Vic) 5, 2:04H ($14,795).
