'Skyfall' becomes first Bond film ever nominated for 'Darryl F Zanuck' award (Photos)

The Producer's Guild of America recognized the newest James Bond film 'Skyfall' on Wednesday, January 2, as one of their 2013 best top ten films and also for "The Darryl F. Zanuck Award" for outstanding producer of theatrical motion pictures making the film the first Bond movie ever nominated for the prestigious award.

Having already surpassed the worldwide box office by over one-billion, 'Skyfall' is not only the highest grossing Bond film of all-time, it is also getting some Oscar buzz since the guild nominations are a great indicator of which films will be nominated for an Oscar.

Jeff Blake the Vice-Chairman for Sony said the films success is extraordinary. "To see a film connect with audiences is always gratifying," Blake said. "But the success of this film is nothing short of extraordinary. After 50 years of entertaining audiences all over the world, Skyfall is the most successful James Bond film of all time."

Of course the film is loaded with plenty of action and glamorous Bond girls with actor Daniel Craig playing Bond for the third time and Dame Judi Dench as Bond's boss, M, for the seventh time.

Not much is known about the 007 script written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. However what we do know is that the film is about a ghost coming back to haunt "M" which tests Bond's loyalty to her. The producers revealed that MI6 comes under attack and that 007 "must track down and destroy the threat no matter how personal the cost."

Other films nominated for the Darryl F Zanuck award by the guild are; Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Moonrise Kingdom, Silver Linings Playbook, Skyfall and Zero Dark Thirty.

All 2013 Producers Guild Award winners will be announced on January 26th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
