A Port Huron man searching for freshwater clams Thursday afternoon in Mill Creek stumbled upon a human skull. The St Clair County Sheriff’s department is investigating.
Frank Kozlowski and some companions were looking for clams in a section of Mill Creek in the Beard Hills State Game Area in Clyde Township. That location is about 55 miles northeast of Detroit.
According to a release by St Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnelon, Kozlowski reached under a log in 3-4 feet of water and felt something odd.
He pulled out a skull.
The Port Huron man placed it onto the shore. He and his friends then went to their vehicle and called the sheriff. A deputy and a detective were sent to the scene.
A dive team was also dispatched. In the area where the skull was found they discovered a few other bones.
The bones were sent to Medical Examiner Dr. Daniel Spitz for examination.
