Stanford football has reinstated linebacker Shayne Skov as of Friday but suspended him for the first game of the season.
Head football coach David Shaw made the announcement in a press release through the athletic department.
“Shayne Skov has been reinstated to the Stanford Football program. Part of Shayne’s reinstatement is that he will be suspended for the first game of the season against San Jose State on August 31.”
Skov found himself in hot water when he was arrested for driving under the influence at the beginning of February.
Skov is also recovering from an injured knee sustained in week three of 2011 that forced him to miss the remainder of the season.
“His rehab is going very well and he is close to being at 100 percent,” said Shaw.
The senior inside linebacker is expected to participate in training camp starting in August.
