The skin is the largest organ of our body and is responsible for one-fourth of the body's detoxification each day. By regularly exfoliating and stimulating your skin, you help your lymphatic system rid itself of accumulated toxins, increase circulation and blood flow, and keep your pores open. The skin will be tighter, softer, and may even remove cellulite.
The DIY method of skin scrubbing is called dry skin brushing. You need to get a natural bristle brush, preferably with a long handle. Daily, before you shower, brush each part of your body, towards the heart. You can first brush the soles of your feet, then calves, then thighs, and so on, all in the direction of your heart. Do circular counter-clockwise circles around your abdomen and brush lightly around breasts. Concentrate the brushing around your lymph nodes in your neck, armpits, and groin. Then hop in a warm shower -- and finish it with a cool rinse to invigorate circulation (if you can stand it!).
Another DIY method is salt scrubs. Make your own salt scrub by combining 1 cup sea salt, 1/2 cup almond, grapeseed, or other massage oil, and 5-15 drop of essential oil if you wish. Mix well and apply the salt scrub to your skin while in the shower (but without the shower on, or else the scrub will wash away) the same way as the dry skin brushing -- that is, all parts of the body, towards the heart. Then take a warm shower to rinse off.
If you want someone else to exfoliate your skin, the ladies at Psy Health Town will put some serious muscle into it. After hanging out in the sauna for at least 30 minutes, your therapist beckon you and don skin-sandpaper mitts to scrub down every part of your body multiple times. You will see grey dead skin cells accumulate on the massage table, which is uh.... kind of gross. After the scrubdown, the therapist will give you an invigorating oil massage and wash your hair. Afterwards your skin will feel amazingly baby-soft and you will feel like a new person.
