The Mayo Clinic offers 5 tips for healthy skin. They recommend:

  1. Protecting skin from the sun
  2. Not smoking
  3. Treating skin gently
  4. Eating a healthy diet
  5. Managing stress

Protecting skin from the sun includes using sunscreen, staying in the shade between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and wearing protective clothing. Smoking makes skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Gentle skin treatment means limiting bath time, avoiding strong soaps, shaving and drying carefully. Eating a diet rich in vitamin C, low in unhealthy fats, and low in processed and refined carbohydrates promote younger looking skin. Managing stress can reduce acne breakouts and other skin problems.
