Skin cancer in men

The rate of skin cancer in men is much higher than the rate in women. In fact, “men have nearly twice the rates of certain skin cancers than women, and they have the highest chances of dying from melanoma,” according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.

Sun Exposure. Skin cancer in men is generally caused from excessive exposure to direct sunlight. Apparently men are not as careful about protecting their skin from the sun. Men could reduce their risks for skin cancer simply by wearing protective clothing and limiting time spent in the sun.

Men's Cancers. There is a strong focus on prostate cancer and colon cancer in men. However, skin cancer is actually the leading form of cancer in men. This could be due to men’s lifestyles. They spend a lot of time working in the sun and participating in outdoor sports. Men experience frequent sunburns, which raises their risk for skin cancer.
