Skiing on the Fourth of July

What a difference a year makes. Last year, 2011, Arapahoe Basin was open in Colorado until July 4th. Other ski resorts in Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain in California stayed open until the Holiday. Fast forward to 2012 and you are lucky to see any patches of snow in the high country, especially in Colorado.

If you want skiing or riding on the Fourth, you are going to have to travel. Travel south. The Southern Hemisphere is in Winter while the Northern Hemisphere is experiencing record temperatures. Places like Portillo in Chile have received 88.5 inches of snow and the season is just underway! It's snowing right now in Las Lenas, Argentina.

One of the best sites to check out where you may want to spend your 4th of July is Snow-Forecast.com. On the site, you can search by ski resorts or by regions to check out the latest snowfall totals and current weather.

Enjoy the Holiday whether you may be skiing, dreaming about colder temperatures, or barbecuing!
