This resort has 36 acres for skiing with the summit at 850’ elevation and 245’ vertical drop. It has ten slopes and trails, five surface lifts, one T-bar with the longest run of 1900’. Its slopes are illuminated for night skiing with five slopes equipped with snowmaking. With January’s snowfall the ski area’s Youth Programs are beginning. Special packages include a lift ticket, rental equipment, and one-hour group lesson. Upgrades are available for private lessons.
The ski lodge provides a break from skiing. It has a fireplace, wood stove, snack bar, beer and wine bar and roomy picnic space. Spacious windows covering the west wall look upon ski slopes. Wi-Fi is freely accessible throughout the lodge. Operating hours are Monday through Thursday 4:00 -9:00 PM, Friday 4:00 -10:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM -9:00 PM, Sunday 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.
It is important to dress properly to maintain warmth. The best approach is layering, and avoiding the use of cotton. A base synthetic underwear layer is followed by fleece with a water resistant outer layer. Socks should be synthetic or wool, plus gloves and hat. Also bring sunscreen, sunglasses, water, snacks and your camera.
Sodus NY is a town midway between Rochester and Syracuse with 8,949 residents. Route 104 travels through Sodus in an east/west direction. It is a few miles south of Lake Ontario on the northern boundary of the US, with Canada on its north shore.
The town name Sodus was derived from the native Indian word "Assorodus." It means "silvery water", describing the bay in the eastern section of town. Sodus has a rural landscape with an abundant annual apple harvest. The village of Sodus Point is on County Road 101 (Lake Road), on the shore of Lake Ontario. The village is surrounded on three sides by water.
The village of Newark is fourteen miles south of Sodus with a population of 9,682. It is the largest and highest populated village in Wayne County. Newark is next to the Erie Canal at the intersection of route 88 and route 31. Newark received fame for its roses, and nicknamed "Rose Capital of America". The horticultural company Jackson and Perkins Company of Newark was one of the largest and best-known horticulture companies in the country.
Brantling Ski Slopes is 10 minutes south of route 104 at 4015 Fish Farm Road, Sodus, NY. From Sodus drive south on route 88, then east onto Brantling Hill Road, left onto Vercrouse Road, then right onto Fish Farm Road.
