Skiers need to stretch, before hitting the slopes

Utah has had some pretty good snow storms lately, and all that lake effect snow would drive any Snow Ski enthusiast to the slopes. It might be that a good number of those enthusiasts are already more than weekend warriors, but conditioning is still very critical. Depending on how your ski trip is, Snow Skiing can be an endurance activity or a high level dynamic activity. It can be an extremely wonderful time on your skis, but there are some muscle groups that are still getting a big workout along with some stressed joints.

As Lori Pritchard of KSL reminded us; the hamstring, calf and quad muscles can get a really good workout along with stress on the knees. As any runner would know to stretch all those muscle groups before a good run, a skier also needs to take the time to stretch those muscles and joints before hopping on the lift for the first time. It will certainly beat the alternative of spending time in a rehab facility afterwards instead of planning your following ski trip.
