Ski tips: Slush Skiing

Now that Spring has sprung, the snow is warming up and turning to slush. How do you ski/ride slush? Here are some quick tips to help you maximize your Spring and slay the slush!

  1. Slice through the snow. Most people get tired when they push the snow with their skis or board. Try to ski/ride at a rate where you have no trouble "slicing" through the snow.
  2. Follow the sun. As the temperatures heat up ski eastern facing aspects in the morning. Southern facing aspects during midday and western facing aspects in the afternoon.
  3. Wax your skis/board. The moisture in the snow can strip your bases of wax. This often gives the snow a "sticky" sensation.
  4. Wear layers. It can warm up quickly. Having layers on can allow you to take off a layer for the given temperature.
  5. Use sunscreen. At higher elevations the sun is very strong and the sun's rays reflecting off the snow can fry your face. Apply and re-apply sunscreen.

Follow these simple tips and you will be loving the Spring time slush!
