SJSO Search for Dark-Colored Ford Windstar Van in This Morning's Hit and Run

 By Rhonda Parker

St. Johns County – Traffic Homicide Investigators from the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office are hoping newly released grainy, black and white photos from a surveillance camera will help them identify the driver of the vehicle that struck and seriously injured a St. Augustine man this morning who was riding his moped.

According to SJSO Traffic Homicide Detective J.D. McGinnis, what they’ve been able to determine from the footage is that the vehicle appears to be a 1999 to 2003 dark-colored, FordWindstar van, and the vehicle would have front-end damage.

The incident occurred at 5:40 a.m. this morning at Old Moultrie and Hastings Road and left 30 year-old Nathaniel Callahan with life-threatening injuries and the moped he was driving smashed on the side of the roadway:  First Coast News photos of scene

Callahan was first taken to Flagler Hospital, then transported to Shands in Jacksonville, according to emergency personnel.  An update on Callahan’s condition indicates he is stable but guarded.
