The Boston Red Sox had two major questions to answer this spring who would man the left side of the infield and who would patrol center field. While the answer to the first question may still depend on whether Boston breaks down and signs free agent Stephen Drew it is looking more and more likely that Grady Sizemore will be the answer to the second question.
In a spring training game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday Sizemore showed exactly why the Red Sox took a chance on him in the first place. He collected three hits in four at bats, scored three runs and made a fantastic diving play in the outfield. He is now batting .381 this spring. Compare that to Jackie Bradley Jr. who is batting just .182.
Of course the biggest concern is whether Sizemore can stay healthy. This is a guy who hasn't played at all the last two seasons and he played a total of just 104 games in the two seasons before that. With all that said he is a guy that could crack 20 home runs, give the team some needed speed and make the pink hat brigade forget all about Jacoby Ellsbury.
With the way Sizemore has performed the Red Sox have to give him the job and send Bradley to Pawtucket. If anything happens to Sizemore then they have Bradley waiting in the wings. If Bradley is so fragile that he can't handle the demotion then how will he ever be able to handle the Boston media?
