Sixtieth anniversary of WALA-TV's first regular broadcast day to be celebrated

On Friday, January 11th, an administrator of the Facebook page for "Studio 10", a local entertainment and lifestyle program produced for WALA-TV and WFNA-TV, posted a message on the page about a plan to celebrate the 60th anniversary of WALA-TV's first day of regular broadcasting during the next edition of "Studio 10" scheduled for Monday, January 14th (the anniversary date). WALA-TV was set to televise and stream the program live between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and WFNA-TV was set to televise a recording of the program between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

The administrator of the Facebook page for WALA-TV also asked visitors of the page if they could recognize any of the persons featured in two images posted along with the message. The persons they were asked to recognize were Nancy Pierce, a former news presenter for WALA-TV, John Edd Thompson, a former weather reporter for the station, and Bob Grip, a current news presenter for the station (Bob Grip and Nancy Pierce appeared together in one of the images).

The images used by the administrator were actually cropped images; larger versions of the images were all ready available on Bob Grip's professional Facebook page (see larger image of Bob Grip and Nancy Pierce and large image of John Edd Thompson). Both of the larger versions were part of sections dedicated to images of WALA-TV's history (see section titled "More folks you may recognize" and the section titled '70s and 80s at WALA')
