A middle school student in Collier County, Fla. has been suspended for twerking. The male sixth grader put his feet up on the classroom wall while standing on his hands -- in an attempt to show off his twerking skills. He lost his balance and toppled over, his foot hitting and setting off the fire alarm that was on the wall.
Staff at the school were running around trying to figure out if there was a fire or what had happened. Emergency personnel showed up at the school and it was a very chaotic scene. Once the principal learned what had happened, the student was suspended. The principal also announced that twerking was not allowed on school property.
While this was clearly a mistake and some feel that the boy shouldn't have been suspended, the school says that the boy was actually suspended for something that happened right after the twerking incident. The school, however, has not released the "real" reason for the suspension yet. Regardless, parents are in support of the twerking ban and most don't want their children twerking at school or anywhere else for that matter.
