Six Johnny Depp movie projects for 2014

Our lovable workaholic Johnny Depp has busied himself with six movie projects this year, and here’s what we have to look forward to in 2014.

Johnny Depp movie projects of 2014; Transcendence, Mortdecai, Pirates-5, Alice in Wonderland 2
CLC & respecitve artists

1. My favorite of the bunch is Wally Pfister's action-drama Transcendence and it’s looking like it might be Johnny’s movie of the year. It’s Pfister's directorial debut --even tho’ he was the amazing cinematographer on a few of my faves--Memento, Inception, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, the Dark Knight Rises, and even Moneyball—all movies that looked great. Transcendence was written by Jack Paglen (who's already working on Prometheus 2) and is set for an April 2014 release.

Transcendence summary: Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed-to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can... but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will's thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.(Source: Warner Brothers) anticipated release date; april 18, 2014 For additional release dates, visit IMDB.com.

2. Another Johnny Depp project for 2014 is David Koepp's crime-drama Mortdecai:

-continuing Hollywood's current love affair with the art world. Depp stars alongside Ewan McGregor and Gwyneth Paltrow – and it follows art dealer Charles Mortdecai who searches for a stolen painting rumored to contain a secret code that gains access to hidden Nazi gold. Koepp has also penned another movie starring Depp; Secret Window, along with-- Carlito's Way, Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible and most recently, Jack Ryan.

3. And Christmas of 2014 it’s Into The Woods:

-A beautiful fantasy/musical from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (and Chicago) director Rob Marshall. Into The Woods is about a witch who conspires to teach important lessons to various characters of popular children's stories including Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel. Our eccentric Johnny growls as The Wolf, while Anna Kendrick sweets through Cinderella and Emily Blunt flours through The Baker's Wife, and Meryl Streep will be taking on the part of the evil witch.

4. Pirates of the Caribbean 5:

- Can you believe another installment of the Pirate franchise is coming? Oh yes, and our loveable rogue pirate Jack Sparrow is back. It’s been talked about in the Hollywood back rooms that they should have packed in the pirates and Jack Sparrow a couple of movies ago, but there’s no way that will happen because they are still doing big business and the studios simply won't listen to those rumors while they’re raking in dollars. This time Norwegian directorial team Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are behind the camera. These guys are slick operators and helmed Kon Tiki (2012), Max Manus: Man of War (2008) and Bandidas (2006). Writing will once again come from Pirates veteran Stuart Beattie and Jerry Bruckheimer will produce.

5. Alice in Wonderland 2:

-Really? Do we need another one? I guess since the original Burton movie made over $1 billion with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter they’re thinking it should work. At least there will be a new director--James Bobin, best known for The Muppets and Flight of the Conchords

6. London Fields:

And I’m loving that later this year, Johnny and his fiancée Amber Heard are reuniting on the silver screen for London Fields--a crime thriller based on the 1989 novel of the same name by Martin Amis. Johnny’s cameo will be worth the price of the ticket, as well as catching Billy Bob Thornton in action. -USMagazine
