As a printmaker, Kristine is fascinated with the manipulation of a two-dimensional surface to create a dialogue with three-dimensional space. The qualities of form, depth, and materiality of painting, design, and drawing inform each of her prints. Kristine encourages the experience of the work to be left in the viewer’s own hands. This can evoke and distort their interpretation of both an abstract place they are searching for or the tangible space in which they inhabit.
Kristine lives in Silver Spring, MD and shares studio space at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center. She has an undergrad degree from Coastal Carolina University and is currently an education graduate student at the Corcoran College of Art and Design.
"The Gallery Series at Sitar Arts Center is a great way for our students and the local community to come into contact with professional artists and their work. Students get to both exhibit their own work in a professional setting and view local artists’ work. This is especially helpful for encouraging their artistic growth and their exposure to different types of art," says Lorenna Maysonet, Programs Assistant at the Sitar.
The event is free to attend. Artwork is available for viewing until March 22, 2014.
